Well, it's a matter of choice sih... :)

Yes, you're correct Rendra, agree with diver should never Dive alone/solo.
Is always good to have a buddy while somethings happen underwater, extra brain can think out more solution to solve the problem. Extra of some spare equipment might help out too, that's why we always good to have some back up equipment. One of a very experience instructor with over confidence on himself, he been solo diving and almost get killed. Luckily he still survive now a day, and he told me never never dive alone, no matter how confidence and how experience you are, even you dive in the dive site every weekend, you will get in trouble someday just don't know when the date comes, especially deep dive or any over head environment.

Have a nice day guys and dive safe.

<Plan your dive,Dive your plan>

Cheers

Apakah si very experience instructor itu memiliki lisensi untuk diving sendirian? Informasi sepotong-sepotong seperti inilah yang akhirnya bisa menimbulkan kesalahpahaman.

Here's the story, as heard from the buddy of the instructor, say that he have been teach for many years, very experience instructor some more he almost dive every weekend in that dive site. But nightmare happen.

There's 3 group of diver, my group, the instructor group and another group on boat, I still remember the water visibility is not good like almost 5 to 10 meters only. The instructor with his group planning to dive a small wreck at around 30 meter plus.

As the instructor and his group reach the wreck, all his groups of friends just swim around and not go in as they know haven't train to go in any overhead environment. The instructor wants his buddy to go in with him, but his buddy refuse. When his buddy try to grab him and telling him not to go in, Is too late.

He have been swim into the shipwreck without torch light and laying line, his buddy with other divers just swim around the wreck and wait for him to come out. YES, as he have been go in a few time with proper equipment BUT this time he didn't bring it at all. And he should not enter as he's not train to go in any overhead environment even he is very experienced instructor or over confidence.

As almost 10 to 15 min later, some of the diver is almost short of air and decide come out to surface. As his good buddy still waiting for him to come out, finally he's coming out and face like panic when hold his buddy hands.

On boat, everyone is curious what happen in the wreck, he say : when I'm swim into the wreck, the visibility is still around 3 meter from the entry, just after a left turn everything start to become darker and totally black. As because his over confidence, he decide to continue dive in and find another way out. Unfortunately, he didn't bring any torch and he dunno where is the entry. He try to find the same way out but is totally dark and he forget when have he turn, he start to panic and struggle as he check his spg only left around 100 bar, no one can saw him in the wreck.

He cool down himself, try to think out how he come in and slowly find out the way out. Finally, he find his way out. As we can saw from his face not well anymore. So we decide go back to resort, drop him and his group and we hang out to dive again.

Thanks to his good buddy still waiting him to come out even almost out of air, this tragedy tell us A good buddy will not leave his buddy alone, to get a good buddy is not easy. Never dive alone even you're very experience diver.

Hope every diver can find their best buddy with responsible and smart.

Have a nice day !

Mike, thanks for sharing this story.

Apparently caused of "excessive confidence" and "continued to breaking the procedure".
IMO, case like this will endanger any diver, including the instructor or dive master though :(

Once again, thanks for sharing this story.
I always interested to know the details behind a diving-accidents.. Unfortunately many of those accidents aren't followed by a clear disclosure
